| TULSA, OK - The first Youth Hunter Education Challenge
scheduled for 2000 was held Saturday, at the Tulsa Gun Club. A total of 23
participants took part in this competition, earning themselves some very nice prizes and
an overall enjoyable experience. Many volunteers were on hand to assist with the
event, which seemed destined to be rained out. However, despite the dreary weather,
the participants were able to learn, compete and improve their skills in six different
areas of competition. These areas included a hunter responsibility exam, .22 rifle,
shotgun, wildlife ID, archery, and a hunter safety trail. Overall, scores were high
and smiles were bright. Our appreciation goes out to each and
every competitor and volunteer who ignored Mother Nature's threat of rain and who pressed
forward to make this YHEC a success. |
